Cable Tray Retrofit Device Updates!
STI has delivered some exciting updates to our EZ Path® Cable Tray Retrofit Device systems, which since their original introduction several years ago have offered a simple solution for firestopping applications where existing cable trays with up to a 100% visual fill penetrate concrete or gypsum walls. Rather than removing cables to ensure compliance or attempting to verify if existing materials are appropriate and installed correctly an easy solution is the use of EZ Path® Cable Tray Retrofit Devices. Simply install the EZ Path® Cable Tray Retrofit Devices around the tray on each side of the wall and secure the devices with appropriate fasteners! The appropriate systems for gypsum and concrete walls respectively are W-L-4102 and W-J-4097, and recent updates to these listings now provide coverage for up to 24 in. cable trays. More details are provided in an article found earlier in this issue dedicated to the EZ Path® Cable Tray Retrofit Device.
Aluminum EMT Applications!
STI has developed four new firestop systems that present easy solutions to installations where aluminum electrical metallic tubing is run through gypsum or concrete wall assemblies. SpecSeal® Firestop Pillows are utilized within framed out or sleeved openings in gypsum walls between the aluminum EMTs and the opening for single or multiple penetrants in W-L-1609 and W-L-8144, respectively. Similar coverage is provided in concrete or concrete block walls through W-J-1336 and W-J-8104. These systems all enjoy F Ratings of up to 2 Hr and include an option for using OmegaFlex MediTrac® Corrugated Medical Tubing as penetrants. The new listings also include L Ratings with leakage rates less than 1 CFM/sq ft at both ambient and 400°F.
